Zotero is a powerful Open Source literature manager. The free version is fully operable without restrictions. Cloud storage is limited to 300 MB, but can be upgraded ($).

- Works with MS Word, Libre Office, Google Docs and Quarto. To use in Latex compilers, export the *.bib file or connect with your Overleaf account (Overleaf Premium required)
- Collaborative writing is possible, but Zotero needs to be used to add or edit citations. A shared library is not required.
- Web library is free and unlimited for data entries without attached files, i.e. full texts.
- Free cloud file storage for full-text attachments is limited to 300 MB, but can be upgraded (20-120$/yr)
