2023 marks the end of the first Read & Publish agreements with Elsevier as well as with Taylor & Francis. Entering 2024 without an agreement will restrict access to articles as well as stop free OA publishing for researchers in Switzerland.

Search & browse all scientific media, access all online content licensed by Lib4RI & loan print media from all over Switzerland in a single portal: swisscovery. The new nationwide library system operated by the SLSP has replaced the NEBIS lending network.

Open Access Big Deals – A Closer Look

The new Swiss OA big deals with Elsevier and Springer Nature have been praised. Although OA big deals undoubtedly offer immediate benefits to scientists, they might also have adverse effects on scholarly publishing in the long run. A commentary.

Coming soon: Publish Open Access in Springer Nature journals free of charge

Swissuniversities & Springer Nature have reached a Memorandum of Understanding for the conclusion of a «read and publish» contract. This contract will allow corresponding authors from Eawag, Empa, PSI & WSL – to publish OA in some 2200 hybrid journals.

Publish Open Access in Elsevier journals free of charge

At Elsevier, corresponding authors of Swiss research institutes can make most of their articles available OA for the next 3 years at no extra cost. This is possible because of a memorandum of understanding for a read & publish contract.

Swissuniversities announced the outcome of the OA negotiations with Elsevier, Wiley and Springer Nature. With Elsevier and Wiley, they extended the current subscription contracts & signed «memoranda of understanding» for «read and publish» deals.
