Vivid Interest in the Renovated PSI Library

Lib4RI

On 21 June 2022, after four months of renovation, we celebrated the reopening of the new, modern library rooms with an Apéro.

The event was intended both as a thank you to all those involved in the renovation and as an invitation to PSI staff to use the new premises. Despite the very hot summer day, almost 100 people found their way to the library in the late afternoon – and everyone agreed that the library’s transformation with its new design and functionalities was a great success.

During the tasty buffet, supplied by PSI’s catering service “Oase”, four short speeches were given. Lothar Nunnenmacher (Head of Lib4RI) pointed out that the new design of the rooms reflects the library’s change from print to online and towards services in recent years. Ivo Widmer (Sektion Immobilien, PSI) explained that the library’s new design concept would serve as a pilot for new construction projects at PSI. The planner of the interior design, Herbie Gisler (H2A raum für ideen ag), reported on the challenge of managing the project with various groups involved and during ongoing operations. Finally, Christian Rüegg, the Director of the PSI, thanked everyone involved and highlighted the library as a success story for inter-institutional cooperation between the four ETH research institutes. He also gave an outlook on the further transformation of premises at PSI.

Both the furniture as well as the remaining library stock can be flexibly adapted to the needs of the users. Your feedback is highly appreciated: @email
