Abstract: The American Chemical Society (ACS) takes the integrity of the research it publishes extremely seriously to maintain its status as ‘Most Trusted’. The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools are essential in our editorial processes to spot discrepancies in the many thousands of submissions we receive each year, for example related to plagiarism, papermills, authorship for sale, compromised peer review, and image duplication/manipulation. The ethics around the use of AI by authors and peer reviewers is also discussed, as the society strives to ensure the highest ethical standards are maintained.
