Poster Prize for Lib4RI at the Open Access Days 2015

Jochen Bihn

The Open Access Days 2015 took place on the 7 to 8 September in Zurich. The meeting, for the first time hosted in Switzerland, was well organized by the Main Library of the University of Zurich. More than 250 participants from science, libraries and publishers discussed current developments in Open Access.

At the beginning of the conference, Hubertus Kohle gave an entertaining keynote about Open Access als Geisteshaltung: Über die Wahrnehmung einer Forschungsrevolution in Öffentlichkeit und (Geistes)Wissenschaft. Other topics addressed this year include research data & data repositories, Open Access at universities of applied sciences, platforms for Open Access-publishing and the changes brought about by Open Access in scientific communication. One of the conference highlights was the inspirational presentation given by Kurt De Belder about the negotiations and actions taken in the Netherlands towards a transition to Open Access.

Several members of the Lib4RI attended the conference and took home many suggestions and inputs for our work at Eawag, Empa, WSL and PSI. Our poster Lokale Integration von Open Access bei Search und Discovery was well received and was placed 3rd in the poster competition (jury award). The posters and presentation slides will be available for download shortly on the conference website.
