Lib4RI launches fund to help researchers publish in Open Access journals

Lib4RI

Beginning in January 2021, Lib4RI will offer a fund to support scientists in publishing research articles in peer-reviewed journals that are available to all on the web without charge. The fund replaces the Eawag Open Access publication fund and the Empa Open Access publication fund and will now support researchers at all four research institutes: Eawag, Empa, PSI, and WSL.

The library already supports publishing research outputs Open Access via the institutional repository DORA (-> Green Open Access ) and several agreements with publishers that allow scientists to publish their articles Open Access for free or at a discounted price. Where these offerings do not meet researchers’ needs, the Open Access fund can help out and offers a further option to publish an article Open Access. The fund is intended as a last resort for articles accepted for publication in eligible pure Open Access journals to cover fees when funds from any other source are unavailable.

Funding conditions and application

Applications for funding must meet six eligibility requirements, e.g. only article fees for publications in pure Open Access journals (not “hybrid” OA journals) are eligible. For a detailed description of the funding requirements, please see the webpage of the Open Access Fund .

Do not pay the article processing charges (APC) yourself! We will not refund an already paid APC. If you are uncertain about the eligibility of your article, please discuss this with us before you submit the article. See the webpage of the Open Access Fund for details on the application process, including documents needed to process your application. Your request will be reviewed for eligibility and the author will be informed whether it has been approved.
