Lib4RI supports Diamond OA initiative for newly launched journal "Aerosol Research"

Lib4RI

Aerosols have gained increased interest from the media and the public during the recent COVID-19 pandemic. Empa and PSI have been involved in research in Switzerland for achieving a better understanding of the role aerosols play in the spread of the virus and the prevention of its transmission.

Lib4RI entered into a 3-year agreement with Copernicus to support the newly launched journal "Aerosol Research" (AR), a Diamond OA journal “dedicated to the publication and public discussion of high-quality studies investigating aerosols” (aerosol-research.net).

By supporting this initiative from the European Aerosol Assembly, Lib4RI, along with ETHZ and EPFL, is demonstrating its commitment to Diamond OA publishing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond_open_access). The publication of articles in Diamond OA is not associated with any costs, neither for the authors nor for the readers. Instead, costs are often covered by learned societies, donations and grants. For existing journals there is also a shift towards the ”subscribe to open” model, whereas for new journals such as “Aerosol Research” new models are needed.

We are proud to support this initiative and look forward to contributing to its success.
